Coronavirus (COVID-19) Advisory

With the news of the increasing spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the GVLL Board of Directors wanted to inform our community's families that we are taking this situation very seriously. We are monitoring the situation closely, and as directed by Little League International, GVLL will follow the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Pennsylvania public health department and other county and/or local authorities including area school districts and government agencies.

As we approach the start of our 2020 Spring season all those that are actively participating in their Little League seasons – including players, volunteers, families, and fans – will follow the best practices as outlined by the CDC, which include washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer); avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands; and avoid close contact with people who are sick. We would also encourage you all to limit close, physical contact with others (including shaking hands).

Our league Safety Officer is consulting with  the appropriate county and/or local authorities regarding recommendations on how to proceed with large gatherings of people.

This Saturday, March 14 will are hosting our Spring clean-up day at our King Road Complex as well as the Battle of the Clouds and East Goshen Township Park.  Out of an abundance of caution, only our adult volunteers age 18 and older should participate in our volunteer cleanup efforts this weekend.  Please do not have players and siblings present at the complex during our clean up.

While this is an extremely fluid situation, at present our local school districts have not suspended 'outdoor-activities' and any GVLL scheduled practices will proceed as planned.  Again, this may change at any moment so please visit our website and continually check email for any updates.

Any family that is not comfortable with having your child participate in a GVLL practice or official activity should refrain from having their child participate.  GVLL fully respects any and all concerns our families have and we will follow ALL decisions made over the coming days and weeks by both GVSD and WCASD.  GVLL is in direct communication with school district officials and will be on a daily basis.

Also please note that ALL official GVLL activities and practices are only permitted to occur at our King Road complex, GVSD and WCASD facilities, East Goshen Township Park and East Whiteland Township fields.  GVLL practices and activities are not permitted to be held at any private or other area sports facility.  GVLL is only insured and authorized by Little League International for these defined area school district, local townships and our King Road facility.

If you or your child are ill; have a fever, cough, or respiratory condition; have a compromised immune system; are in any other group that may be at an increased risk of contracting a virus like the coronavirus; or have recently traveled to a country listed on the CDC’s Risk Assessment, we encourage you to advise GVLL of any specific concerns regarding your child and to refrain from Little League-related activities until cleared by your healthcare provider.

GVLL will be providing guidance to all league managers, coaches and officials regarding how best to clean and sanitize hard surfaces and shared equipment that our league utilizes; tipping caps/visors instead of shaking hands at the end of a game; making sure all players have their own water/drink bottles and are not sharing; stocking bathrooms and concession stand areas with soap and hand sanitizer; and, if any volunteers are uncomfortable or cannot attend a league or district meeting, utilizing free phone/web conferencing service are some alternative steps that we will follow as best practices while this health concern remains.

Thank you,

GVLL Board of Directors
