Expansion of Division Eligibility Age

Great Valley Little League is happy to announce a realignment of our age divisions.  To better develop our players and give families more options for their child’s baseball experience, the League will open the age of eligibility for some of our youngest divisions.  The changes include:

  • Opening T-ball to league age 4 year old’s
  • Opening the Rookie Division (machine pitch) to league age 6 year old’s
  • Opening the American Division (live pitching) to league age 8 year old’s

League age” is defined as your child’s age on August 31st of that season.

Why are were doing this?

This has been a topic of discussion for some time.  We understand that every child will develop at their own pace.  It is also important to Great Valley Little League to keep a child’s interest in the game of baseball.  If a child is exceling at an early age, we do not want to stifle that ability.  To be better partners in your child’s baseball experience, it is essential that Great Valley Little League allows families to have that flexibility.

Parent’s options

At these new transition ages, you have the option to play in either division. If your child is 6 years old and is ready to play baseball at the machine pitch baseball level, select the Rookie Division option.

If your child is 8 years old and is ready to play baseball at the live pitching level, select the American Division option.  The American Division requires players to attend an evaluation night to allow the league to better balance the teams.  Given the risks associated with living pitching, if there are limitations with your child’s ability to safely participate at this level, the Player Agent will contact you with their concerns.
